Customers pick and blend fruits and set their own sugar, honey, water and milk levels; the software runs the hardware, takes payment, and reports back.

The summary.

A self-serve smoothie machine only works if the screen is effortless and the hardware never misses. SwaRas is the software for both: a tablet app where customers choose fruits and set sugar, honey, water and milk to taste, wired to the machine’s hardware and to payments, with a web admin that shows the operator what’s selling. The whole loop, in one build.

About SwaRas

SwaRas is the complete software for a customisable smoothie vending machine: a React Native tablet app for selecting and blending fruits and setting sweetness and dilution, with hardware communication, payments, and a web admin for reports. Built on React, FastAPI and AWS.

The challenge.

On top of that it has to take payment on the spot and give the operator a way to see what’s selling, all from a machine standing on its own in the field.

SwaRas had to handle the full loop: a tablet app for selection and blend customisation, the hardware communication behind it, payments, and a web admin for reports.

A vending machine that lets customers build their own smoothie is really two hard problems in one: an interface simple enough to use in seconds, and reliable communication with the hardware that actually blends and pours.

The solution.

We built the complete tablet application in React Native, covering fruit selection, blend customisation, and sugar, honey, water and milk levels, with the hardware communication and payment handling behind it, plus a React web admin on FastAPI and AWS for reporting.

How we
built it.

The same four phases behind every build we ship: scoped in writing, delivered in milestones, and maintained by the team that built it.

  1. 1.Talk through the problem

    Discovery
    • Your business, not a feature list
    • Who actually uses it day to day
    • Timeline and budget, up front
  2. 2.Scope, estimate and plan

    Written scope
    • What gets built, and in what order
    • Which stack it runs on, and the cost
    • Nothing starts until you approve it
  3. 3.Build and ship in milestones

    Milestones
    • Working software at every milestone
    • No single reveal at the end
    • Feedback folded in as it goes
  4. 4.Live, and kept that way

    On AWS
    • Deployed and running on AWS
    • We stay on after go-live
    • Maintained by the team that built it

The outcome.
